Burial Date Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 am in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton, by the Rev. Fr. Martin A. Boylan. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Visitation will be on Sunday, 5 to 7 pm.

Joseph W. Samuels, 77, of West Scranton, died Tuesday at home, after an extended illness. His wife Evelyn Patrick Samuels, died in September. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Lescowitch Samuel. Joe was a 1956 graduate of West Scranton High School, was a co-owner of Samuel’s Electric Motor Repair and retired after 25 years with Affiliated Foods. He was a member of the former St. John the Baptist Church, now St. Patrick’s Parish and was a Navy veteran having served on the USS Plymouth Rock, LSD-29. Joe was an avid fifth wheel camper and spent the past 27 years with his many friends at the How Kola, in Falls, PA. He enjoyed the jamming sessions playing his harmonica with his guitar playing friends at How Kola. He is survived by one son Joseph Samuels and wife Lori, FL., two daughters, Cynthia Bellucci, Taylor, Theresa Basalyga and husband Nick, FL., five grandchildren, Benjamin Bellucci, John, Sarah and Thomas Morgan, and Natalie Basalyga, one sister, Loretta Dixon, Scranton, one brother, Albert Samuel, Scranton, one son inlaw, Benjamin Bellucci Sr., Taylor, one stepson, Wayne Lasky and wife Sue Ann, a step niece, Mary Ann Patrick and additional nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 am in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton, by the Rev. Fr. Martin A. Boylan. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Visitation will be on Sunday, 5 to 7 pm. A special thank you is extended to the staff and nurses of Traditional Home Hospice.
