Carolyn D. Wojewodski, OCDS, 78, of South Scranton, died Monday at The Willowbrook, where she was a resident. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond Wojewodski. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Martin J. and Elena Pilotti Piepoli. Carolyn was a graduate of South Scranton Catholic High School and received her B.A. and a Masters in Theology from Marywood College and taught until her retirement at Bishop O’Hara in Dunmore. She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish of which she was very active. She was a member of the Orchard Lake Society, the Christian Mothers, former Director of Religious Education and Pastoral Associate at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church. She was also a member of the Enthronement Guild of the Sacred Heart and of the Secular Order Discalced Carmelites and had served as President of each of the aforementioned societies. Carolyn was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend who was loved and admired by all who knew her. Over the years, mom was an avid baker, cook and seamstress. She was a devout Catholic and reader of spiritual writings and always willing to offer spiritual guidance. She is also survived by one son Mark Wojewodski and fiancée Doreen Kuttrubis, Simpson, two daughters, Lori Wojewodski, Scranton, Maria Pappa and husband Ernie, Clarks Summit, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Marie Mazzarella and husband Joseph, Clarks Summit, Virginia Wetherill and husband Roger, Lake Ariel, nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters inlaw, Shirley Piepoli, SC, and Margaret Piepoli, Dunmore. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Martin Jr. and Michael Piepoli. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, South Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Scott P. Sterowski, Pastor. Interment will follow in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery, Minooka. Viewing for family and friends will be on Wednesday, 5 to 8 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
