Debra C. Henderson, 62, of the Bellevue section of West Scranton, passed on Friday, April 08, 2022 at Geisinger/CMC after an illness with family at her side. Her husband is Johnie Henderson. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late James and Rosalyn Johnson. Debra was a 1977 graduate of Scranton Central High School, She loved spending time with her lifelong friends, hanging out listening to funk records. After high school, Debra was a gymnastics coach; which was one of her passions and always looked forward to an upcoming Olympic season. Debra then entered the optical field, working at Lens Lab and receiving her long lasting nickname “DJ”. She then became the GM of Lens Crafters for 20 years and presently as GM for Vision Works.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, Johnie, and daughter Jazmine, three sons; Johnie Henderson Jr., and partner, Cera, NY, Joshua Henderson and wife Jessica, NY, Jeremiah Henderson and wife Tiffany, Kingston, PA.; a daughter; Jessica Henderson, Scranton, one sister; Carol Farrell and husband David, Scranton, two brothers; David Johnson and wife Donna, Throop, Richard Johnson and wife Nancy, AZ, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind, her beloved cats.
Debra was predeceased by her parents and one sister; Barbara Johnson.
Viewing and a Celebration of Debra’s life for family and friends, will be on Wednesday, 4 to 7 pm, at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Interment will be private.
