Desiree Shaughnessy

Desiree Shaughnessy, 53, of West Scranton and Reading, passed early Tuesday morning at St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading, after a long illness. Her husband of 28 years is Brian Shaughnessy. Born in Bronx, NY, she is the daughter of the late Juan B. Abreu and Luz-R Villa Nueva. Desiree was a 1986 graduate of Reading High School, and was a 1991 graduate of West Chester University, receiving a B.A. in Marketing. She was employed by Keller Williams Real Estate in Reading, where she had been so happy to be part of the Real Estate Team. Desiree was known for her resilience, strength, positivity, her fun and loving personality and was the shining light on family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Brianna Shaughnessy Fenton and husband Christopher, Scranton, two grandchildren, Sadie Rose and Beau, two sisters; Joylyn Johnson and husband Randal, Reading, Zinnia Morales, Florida, nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10 am in St. Patrick’s Church, Jackson Street, West Scranton, by the Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. The Shaughnessy family would like to thank the numerous medical professionals who took exceptional care of Desiree for 28 years. Also her friends/work family at Keller Williams Real Estate. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.

Burial Date: October 30, 2021

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10 am in St. Patrick’s Church, Jackson Street, West Scranton, by the Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor.

Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
