Edward Obidinski

Edward W. Obidinski, 87, of West Scranton, died Monday at Hospice of The Sacred Heart, Dunmore after an extended illness. Born in Scranton, Ed was a graduate of West Scranton High School and the University of Scranton. He worked at AkzoNobel Salt Company starting as a draftsman in 1966. He progressed through the engineering department, and corporate purchasing where he retired as the Purchasing Supervisor. He first served his country as a member of the Naval Reserve and was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War. Ed was also the past Commander of the American Ukrainian Veterans of Lackawanna County. He is survived by his daughters; Janet Comerford and husband Mark, Fort Myers, FL, Jill Bailey, and husband Philip, Bala Cynwyd, PA, four grandchildren who were his pride and joy; Rachel Rick, Amanda Bailey, Sam Bailey, and Erin Bailey, siblings; Ann  DeAntona, Scranton, Helen Hedglin and husband, Frank, Clarks Summit, Eugene Obidinski, Seguin, TX, nieces, and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by his son, Edward Obidinski.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, at St. Ann’s Basilica, 1233 St. Ann’s Street, Scranton, 18504 at 11:30 am. Interment will follow with Military Honors accorded by the United States Army and the Dickson City Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday, 4 to 7 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
