Gerard J. “Jerry” Taylor

Gerard J. “Jerry” Taylor, 71, died Friday at Geisinger/CMC ICU. His wife of 25 years is Christine Taylor. Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Robert and Anne Lynady Taylor. He is also survived by two sons; Justin Taylor, Carbondale, James Taylor, Lake Ariel, one sister; Judy Chapman, Carbondale, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, and brother, Robert Taylor. Jerry was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, attended Keystone College and was a Certified EMT 02, for Community Medical Center, where he was a co-founder for paramedic services throughout Lackawanna County as well as a retired Carbondale Postal employee. Jerry joined the Army National Guard immediately after high school graduation, where he honed his skills in weaponry, sharpshooting and medical aid and retired from the Guard after 20 years of dedicated service to his State and Country. Jerry was the present Commander of the Dickson City American Legion Post 665 as well as with the Dickson City Veterans Honor Guard. American Legion District 11 will have Legion Honors at 6:45 PM on Friday, a Blessing Service will follow at 7 PM officiated by the Rev. Fr. Richard Fox in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. The family will receive friends on Friday, 4 to time of services at 6:45 pm. Inurnment will be on Monday, at 12:30 PM at Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Elmhurst with Military Honors accorded by the Dickson City Veterans Honor Guard.
