Helene E. Motsay Brown, 94, a former resident of Mayfield, Carbondale and Mount Pocono, died Tuesday at Creekside Health Care and Rehab Center, Carbondale. She was the widow of Raymond Motsay, and Robert Brown. Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Romanishyn. A graduate of Mayfield High School, she was a L.P.N. having worked at the Carbondale Nursing Home as well as being a professional seamstress and working in retail sales. Helene loved to read and write poetry and was published in the National and American Poets Society. She is survived by two sons, Raymond Motsay and fiancée Fran Frommelt, Crystal Lake, Gerard Motsay and wife Sharon, Scranton, two daughters, Roseann “Tina” Timmermans, FL, Barbara Cavanaugh and husband Lawrence, Long Island, NY, three sisters, Dolores Levine, Carbondale, Jean Dzwonczyk, Dickson City, Anne Motacki, NJ, six Grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by siblings, Lillian Stout, Mary Setta, Michael and John Romanishyn, son in-law Richard Timmermans and daughter in-law, Joanne Motsay. Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 2 to 4 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Private interment will be in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg.
