Mary Sabo, 95, of the Pinebrook section of Scranton, died Thursday at Geisinger/CMC VNA Hospice Unit. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Milewski Sabo. Educated in Scranton schools, she was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Scranton. Mary worked in the accomplished field of Rosie the Riveter in Bridgeport, CT during WW II and returned to Scranton to work and retire from Capitol Records. She also operated the family grocery, ice cream and candy store in Green’s Place in Pinebrook. Mary was a member of St Ann’s Guild at St. Mary’s and the Pinebrook Neighbor’s Assoc. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, to include, Joann Altenhein, Moosic, and her care givers, Donna Dixon, Olyphant, and great niece, Michele Manzo, Moosic, close friends, David and Denise Fueshko, Scranton, and many additional great nieces and great nephews. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Anna Lacken, Margaret Sesok, Julia Slivka, Helen Bonadio and infant Mary, two brothers, Michael and John Sabo. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Linden Street, Scranton, by the Rev. Leonard A. Martin, S.J., Pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements by the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Scranton.
