Ruth Snyder, 96, Scranton, formerly of Dalton, passed on Saturday night at home. Her husband, of 58 years, Rev. Richard A. Snyder, passed in 2002. Ruth was born in Newburg, Oregon to the late Edward and Martha Asmus. A graduate of Fort Collins High School, Colorado, she was a lifelong, dedicated Mother, nurturing and guiding her family through life. Ruth assisted her husband Rev. Richard at the Dunmore Open Bible Church and was a member of the Peckville Assembly of God. She is survived by five children, Rev. Donald R. Snyder and wife Ruth, Albion, NY, Dr. John R. Snyder and wife Millie, Lima, Ohio, Gerald W. Snyder and wife, Phyllis, Sterling, VA, Cheryl Larnerd and husband Andrew, Hernando, FL, Janet Tan and husband Edwin, Scranton, 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a sixth child, Richard J. Snyder, whose wife Carol survives, and 6 siblings, Edna A. Garton, Doris M. Damm, Grace E. Conklin, Raymond H. Asmus, Ralph V. Asmus and Velte A. Asmus. Viewing for family and friends will be on Saturday, 9 to 10:30 am, with services beginning at 10:30 am officiated by the Rev. Ernie Drost, in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Overfield Township.
