Stanley H. “Cappy” Jasinski, 100, of the Bellevue section of West Scranton, passed on Wednesday September 11 at Abington Manor. His wife of 65 years, Margaret M. Jasinski, passed on October 12, 2017. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Stanley and Victoria Jasinski. Cappy was a lifelong member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, South Scranton, a WW II Army Veteran serving as a Tec 5, during battles in Naples, Rome, Northern France, Southern France, Ardennes, Central Europe, and received the Good Conduct Medal, WW II Victory Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Battle Stars. Cappy was a member of the American Ukrainian Veterans Association of Lackawanna County “UKAVETS” and retired as a presser for the former Specialty Records in Throop. Stanley had a love for music and baseball. Stanley is survived by one son, Thomas R. Jasinski and wife Lori, Nicholson, two daughters, Mary Margaret Jasinski, Scranton, Ellen McNamara, Harrisburg, four Grandchildren, Allison Skiba (Mitch), Jennifer O’Malley (Brian), Daniel McNamara, Thomas Jasinski Jr. (Jordynn), one great granddaughter, Madison O’Malley, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret, three brothers, Walter, Theodore and Francis, and a sister, Eleanor Markovich. The Jasinski family extends their heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, and Abington Manor, for the compassionate care extended to their Dad and Poppy.
Viewing for family and friends will be on Wednesday September 18, 4 to 5:30 pm with a Blessing Service beginning at 5:30 pm officiated by the Rev. Fr. Mark DeCelles of St Theresa of Calcutta Parish in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Inurnment will be held on Friday, September 20, at 10 am in Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Davis Street, Minooka, with military honors accorded by the United States Army and the Dickson City Veterans Honor Guard.
