Theresa G. Kortawy, 89, of West Scranton, passed at home on Tuesday morning, May 24, 2022 after an extended illness. She was the widow of Alexander Kortawy who passed on January 8, 1996. Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine Incavido. Theresa was a 1950 graduate of Grover Cleveland High School, Buffalo, New York, a member of St. Patrick’s Parish and retired from Bell Telephone.
She is survived by two daughters; Sharon O’Donnell and husband James, Scranton, Gail O’Malley and husband Matthew, Scranton, two sons; Joseph Kortawy and wife Julie, Scranton and Alan Kortawy and companion Liz Gilbert. Five grandchildren; Michael and Matthew Kortawy, Emily and Matthew O’Malley and Shannon O’Donnell, one brother; Frank Incavido, one niece, Melissa Battle, two nephews, Tim and Francis Incavido. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Alexander, her parents and her sister in-law, Ann Marie Incavido.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am by the Rev. Fr. Richard Fox, at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street, West Scranton. Inurnment will be private. There are no calling hours at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
