Veronica Krupa, 94, a lifelong resident of Scranton, passed on Wednesday, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was the daughter of the late Julius and Maria Magdziak Krupa. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, attended the American Institute of Banking and the University of Scranton. Prior to retirement, she was an officer at PNC Bank, formerly Northeastern Bank of Pennsylvania. Veronica was a lifelong member of St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, in the Bellevue section of Scranton, where she was a devoted member in all of the church organizations and activities, especially the St. Elizabeth Guild. She was a member and past president and board member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and the Purple Club of the University of Scranton. She is survived by her nieces, Maria Barrett and husband, Edward, South Abington Twp, and Laurie Krupa, Oradell, NJ., three grandnephews; Michael Barrett and wife, Megan, Matthew Barrett and wife Virginia, Daniel Barrett and wife Maura, grandniece, Allie Krupa, three great-great grandnephews, Liam, Henry, and Ethan, five great-great grandnieces; Anna, Kathryn, Rose, Nora and Ellouise She was predeceased by her parents, sister, Mary Gonkavich, brothers, George Krupa and infant John Krupa.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 11:30 am by the Rev. Fr. Roman Vasylynka at St. John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, 310 Broadway Street, Scranton, PA 18505, those attending church services are kindly asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be in St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Minooka. Visitation will be on Monday, 5 to 7 pm, with a Panachida Service commencing at 5 PM, in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
