Victor Fleck

Victor Fleck, 85, of West Scranton, died Friday at Geisinger/CMC. His wife of 63 years is Dorothy Karsnak Fleck. Born in Scranton, he is a son of the late Michael and Mamie Adamczyk Fleck. Victor was a lifetime member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church, the church choir of which he served as President, the American Ukrainian Veterans Assoc. (Ukavets), where he served as a chaplain, auditor, Sergeant at Arms and board member. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and served as a Sergeant with the 1st Battalion of the 179th Infantry Regiment and was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB), the National Defense Service, the United Nations Service, the Good Conduct and the Korean Service w/2 service stars medals. Victor was employed for 36 years with Asplundh Tree Experts and retired from Friendship House after 19 years. Vic was known a quiet, dignified and a hard working man who truly loved his wife, children, granddaughter, brothers, sisters and St. Vladimir’s Church. Along with his wife Dottie, he is survived by one son, Victor M. Fleck and wife Jill, Avenel, NJ, one daughter, Debbie Dommes and husband Robert, Scranton, a granddaughter, Ashley Dommes, one brother Richard Fleck and wife Ann, Scranton, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Michael and John Fleck, Mary Stumm, Anna Zymblosky, Katherine Prislupsky, Elizabeth Smulek and Rosalie Murphy. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am in St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church by the Rev. Myron Myronyuk, Pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Minooka, with full Military Honors accorded by the US Army and the Dickson City Veterans Honor Guard. Viewing for family and friends will be on Monday, 4 to 7 pm, in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Panakhyda Services will be at 6:30 pm with Rosary Recital at 6:45 by St. Vladimir Church BVM. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred for St. Vladimir Church, 430 N. 7th.
