Wayne J. Malachowski, 57, of Sturges, passed away on Monday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Norma Vargas. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Edmund and Emelyn Malachowski. Educated in Scranton Schools, Wayne earned his degree from Johnson College in 1984 as a Specialized Mechanical Technician and was also a HVAC Technician. He was employed as an Electro Mechanical Technician for over 30 years with Technicolor (the former Cinram). Wayne enjoyed camping, watching movies, was an animal lover, and was a member of the La Plume Shooting Range. He was the best dad and husband and had a heart of gold. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He is also survived by 4 daughters, Jamie Hindman and Matthew, Wilmington DE, Kristie Malachowski, Dunmore, Karen Wong, Sturges, Fernanda Morato, Sturges, 1 sister Ellen Gianacopoulos, Scranton, 2 brothers Gary Malachowski & Winnie and Ronald Malachowski, both of Scranton, 1 niece Jill Yusinski and 2 nephews Jake Malachowski and Greg Gianacopoulos. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am at St. Ann’s Basilica. A viewing will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Ave, West Scranton.
