Helen Yatzun, of Scranton, died Friday, July 6, at the age of 104. She was the daughter of immigrant parents, Michael and Mary Plishka Yatzun. A lifelong member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, where she served in many different roles, ranging from tireless all-encompassing volunteer work to being the Financial Secretary for many years. She was a graduate of Lackawanna Business College, a member of the AFL-CIO and worked for Consolidated Molding Products for forty three years. Her true passion in life was her family and her Church. She leaves us with cherished memories. We firmly believe that the secret to her longevity was to find joy in each day, and to never stop learning. She is survived by those who loved her deeply, nieces and nephews: Carolyn Stout, Michael Battle (Colleen), Patryk Battle (Diane) and Bridgette Mohimani (Mohsen), great nephews and nieces: Michael Stout (Jessie), Holly Stout, Matthew Stout, Stephen Mohimani, David Mohimani, Nora Walsh Battle and great-great nephew Henry Michael Stout. Helen was predeceased by one brother Stephen, killed while serving in the North African Campaign in WW II, two sisters, Anne Lapashansky and Kay Battle. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 am in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 540 North Main Avenue, Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Philip Harendza, Pastor. The family will receive friends in the church from 10 am until time of services. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Arrangements under the direction and care of the Edward J.
