Viewing for family and friends will be on Monday, 4 to 7 pm

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 10 am in the Basilica of St Ann, 1233 St. Ann’s St., Scranton, 18504.

Interment will follow at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery, Davis Street, Scranton.

Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Dickson City Veterans Honor Guard.

Joseph J. Siemion Sr, 74, of Old Forge, passed on Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a valiant battle with cancer. His wife of 51 years is Patricia T. Pisarcik Siemion. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Cecelia Gontarz Siemion.

Joe was a 1966 graduate of Bishop Klonoski High School and attended Lackawanna Business College. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Vietnam with the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry of the 173rd Infantry Brigade. Joe was awarded the Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Purple Heart. He was employed by and retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot as a supervisor and attended St. Ann’s Basilica.

Joe was a loving husband and father and a loyal friend who cared deeply about those closest to him. His quiet and calm demeanor made everyone around him feel welcome. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and children to the New Jersey shore, the Caribbean, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City. Dining out with his family and friends and talking about Penn State football and the Dallas Cowboys were also amongst his favorite things to do.

He is survived by his wife Patricia, son Joseph J. Siemion Jr. and wife Erin, Throop, daughter, Nicole Nick and husband Raymond, Peckville, five siblings; Diane Basila, Simpson, Carol Shimo and husband Frank, Scranton, Patricia Naro and partner Robert Hess, Newfoundland, Richard Siemion and girlfriend Daria Kochanievich, Scranton, Thomas Siemion and wife Sally, Dunmore, mother in-law, Dorothy Pisarcik, Scranton, sisters in-law; Susan Pisarcik and husband Chuck Bradway, Florida, Colleen Pisarcik, Throop, numerous nieces and nephews.
