Laura “Lori” Wojewodski, 56, of South Scranton, died Wednesday night surrounded by her family at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, after a recent illness and a 35 year courageous battle with Lupus. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of Raymond Wojewodski, Scranton, and the late Carolyn Piepoli Wojewodski. Lori was a graduate of Bishop Klonowski High School. Prior to her disability she was employed by the Diocese of Scranton for 30 years in the Pro Life Office and Office of Parish Ministries. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, (St. Paul of the Cross Parish) and the Lupus Foundation of NEPA, where she served as newsletter editor for several years. Over the years, Lori enjoyed shopping and traveling, especially to the Outer Banks. She loved clowns, poetry and antiques. She was the best sister and the most loving, loyal and devoted friend you could ever have. Her kindness and generosity were endless and she always touched your heart with her smile. Despite her illness, she never lost her wit or sense of humor and the faith, courage and strength she showed were inspirational. Her gentle, loving spirit will be with us always. In addition to her father, she is survived by her sister, Maria Pappa and husband Ernie, Clarks Summit, her brother, Mark Wojewodski and fiancée Doreen Kuttrubis, Simpson, aunts, uncles, two nieces, two great nieces, a great nephew, and cousins. Her best and dearest friend, Rose Bauer, to whom we are deeply grateful for all her care and kindness throughout their 40 year friendship. And her beloved dog, Bailey. Her funeral will be on Tuesday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, to be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. J. Duane Gavitt. Interment will follow in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery, Minooka. Viewing for family and friends will be on Monday, 4 to 7 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
