Raymond C. Wojewodski, 86, of South Scranton died Monday at the Jewish Home where he had been a resident for the past 5 years.  His beloved wife of 60 years, Carolyn D. Piepoli, preceded him in death on December 28, 2015.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Bronislaw and Theresa Kuklewicz Wojewodski. He was a graduate of South Catholic High School and received his electrical engineering degree from Penn State University.  His work as a designer and electrical engineer can be seen in numerous buildings throughout our region. Following his retirement from engineering, he worked for St. John’s, St. Francis and Sacred Hearts Churches in South Scranton up until his illness.  He was a life-long member of Sacred Hearts/St. Paul of the Cross Parish and the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart Guild.  During the good years, as he called them, he enjoyed trips to the Jersey Shore, fishing, gardening, woodworking and could fix just about anything. Despite his illness, he never lost his sense of humor and gift for storytelling – that is short story long. He was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was the youngest and last surviving of seven siblings.  Brothers Stanely and Edward and sisters, Anne Svetlovics, Loretta Urban, Alice Klas and Helen Schirra preceded him in death.  His daughter Laura “Lori” Wojewodski also preceded him in death on June 15, 2016.

He is survived by daughter Maria Pappa and husband Ernie, Clarks Summit, son, Mark Wojewodski; two granddaughters, three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; four sisters in law, Marie Mazzarella and husband Joseph, Clarks Summit, Virginia Wetherill and husband Roger, Lake Ariel, Margaret Piepoli, Dunmore, and Shirley Piepoli, SC;  brother in law James Klas, Scranton.

Thank you to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care and assistance during dad’s final days.  Deepest appreciation to Dr. Thomas Minora for his kindness and exceptional care for over 25 years.  And we are truly most grateful to the Jewish Home, especially the 3rd Floor nurses, aides and staff for their loving and compassionate care and keeping dad safe these past 5 years during his journey with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 AM. on Friday from the Edward J.
