Interment will follow in Dunmore Cemetery with Military Honors.

Robert A. Barletta, also known to those who loved him as Bobby/Pop, 74 of Scranton, passed on April 6, 2023, at his home with his family by his side. Born in Pittston on March 6, 1949, Bobby was the son of the late Nicholas and Mildred McDonald Barletta. He was educated in Pittston schools and received an Associate Degree from Lackawanna College prior to becoming a self-employed contractor.

Bobby was a veteran of Vietnam, serving with the United States Marine Corps as a combat engineer attaining the rank of Sergeant and was awarded the NDSM, GCM, Vietnam service medal and RVN Gallantry Cross Medals. He also worked as an MP at Alcatraz Federal Prison. Bobby is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marguerite Delonti Barletta, three sons; Christopher Barletta and wife, Heather, Scranton, Ryan Barletta, Scranton, Robert Barletta Jr., Clarks Summit, two daughters; Lisa Barletta Goodwin and husband Paul, Dunmore, Britani Barletta Padden and husband Josh, Scranton, six grandchildren; Taylor Barletta, Brooks Barletta, Isla Barletta, Lilly Goodwin, Molly Goodwin, and Torin Padden, seven siblings; Ethel Barletta, Scranton, Joseph Barletta and wife Victoria, Lake Ariel, Samuel Barletta and wife Kathy, Snydersville, Adam Barletta and wife Susan, Clarks Summit, Malcolm Barletta and wife Barbara, Ransom, Carmen Barletta, Pittston, Richard Barletta, Scranton, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Jack and Phillip Barletta.

Bobby lived a truly optimistic life full of laughter and love and always lit up the room, even during his 14-year battle against lung cancer. He enjoyed singing, playing his guitar, telling jokes, his backyard oasis, and spending time with his family. He became a pop to everyone that knew him. Although he will be missed tremendously, as our pop always said, “everything flies away eventually.”

Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, April 14, 5-8 pm, and Saturday, April 15, 8:30 am until time of Service, in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. A Blessing Service will be officiated on Saturday at 10 am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Dunmore Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Marine Corps League or the American Cancer Society.
