Robert “Fritz” Golden, passed away peacefully Wednesday, at Allied Hospice Facility. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Francis T. Golden, Scranton Police Detective Ret., and Stella Fisher Golden. Fritz was a 1968 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He went on to serve honorably in the Pennsylvania National Guard assisting with the Hurricane Agnes disaster. A lifelong resident of North Scranton, he attended Mary Mother of God Parish and was a life member of the Polish Club. Fritz retired after 42 years as a Detective Sergeant with the Scranton Police Department. During his time with the department he was involved in many major cases and was often the lead investigator. Fritz was an original member of the first organized Narcotics Unit known as the K-SQUAD.

His talent and experience as an officer, investigator, and interviewer was beyond reproach. His example of how to police is truly a legacy. His compassion for others is what drew people towards him making him a great Cop and an even better Father. His children were his world and he would do anything for them.

Fritz was an avid hunter and fisherman. His love for the outdoors was passed down from generation to generation. His greatest joy and fondest memories were hunting trips with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and just being in the woods.

He is survived by his children, Robert John Golden Jr. Pennsylvania State Police, Katie Golden Pennsylvania State DOC, William Francis Golden Pennsylvania State Police, wife Lauren and their son, Liam, all of Scranton, one brother, Francis T. Golden, Pennsylvania State Police Ret. and wife Ginger, Waymart, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
