Rose M. (Pietryka) Patrick, 91, Rosalia Maria Jargiello, her given name, of Scranton, died Thursday at Abington Manor. She was the wife of 64 years to Peter J. Patrick (Pietryka), who died on April 12, 2012. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Bonczek Jargiello. Educated in West Scranton High School, she was a member of SS Peter & Paul R. C. Church, was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry, and was a member of the Polish Alliance, The Zonta Club and the Christian Mothers Club. Rose loved to travel to Florida to visit family, found nothing too difficult to challenge and won all without fail and enjoyed dining out, especially at Italian Restaurants. She was a philanthropist in her own way, devout Catholic, and took pleasure in comforting those in need. She will be sorely missed by many. Surviving are three sons, Robert Patrick and wife Marie, Land O Lakes, FL, Peter Pietryka and wife Mary Lou, Fayetteville, NY, David Pietryka and wife Helen, Old Forge, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters, Mary Spivak, McKee’s Rocks, Violet Kania, FL., several nieces and nephews, and especially loved her niece Diane Kubowicz Fratamico and husband Butch, Scranton, who cared for her unselfishly. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Bartkievicz, Sophie Shuminski, Ceil Kubowicz, two brothers, Frank Jargiello Jr. and Anthony Jargiello. A very grateful thank you is extended to Andrea Yerke, Anne Grimes and the staff of VNA Hospice for their kind and compassionate care given to Rose. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10 am in SS Peter & Paul R.C. Church, 1302 W. Locust Street, West Scranton, to be celebrated by Rev. Sam J. Ferretti, Pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Viewing will be in SS Peter & Paul Church on Wednesday morning, 9 am until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, Memorial can be sent to VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware Avenue, Olyphant, PA 18447. Arrangement by the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Scranton.
