Bertha M. Palahunich, 90, formerly of Old Forge, died Saturday at Allied Skilled Nursing. Her husband Stephen Palahunich died November 9, 2015. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Agnes Sobuta. Bertha was a graduate of Old Forge High School, a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Scranton and retired from Brooks Manufacturing of Old Forge. She is survived by one brother, Peter Sobuta, Old Forge, her caregiver, Johanna Petranchak, Scranton, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Baron and Josephine Potosky, four brothers, Samuel and Stanley Sobuta, Joseph and Edward Granko. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10 am, in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, to be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Leonard A. Martin, S.J., Pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be in the Church on Thursday, 9:15 am until time of Liturgy.
