Dana W. Preble, 70, of North Scranton, died Wednesday night in the Geisinger/CMC Intensive Care Unit surrounded by his family. His wife of 38 years, Margaret Moran Preble, died in 2004. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Stanley and Catherine Russell Preble. Educated in Scranton Technical High School, he was an Army Vietnam Veteran serving as a crew chief & door gunner on UH-1B Huey and CH-47 Chinook helicopters. Dana had been employed for 22 years at Bolus Truck Parts, Throop, and Red Line Towing of Dickson City for 20 years. He was a member of the Taurus Club and American Legion Post 908, both of North Scranton. Dana truly loved the work that he did, was great at it and had some of the funniest stories. We loved hearing his stories of growing up in the Flats, learning to drive, his Mom making bread from a wood burning stove and getting drafted into the Army. He really enjoyed going for long rides with his wife Margaret, whom he missed terribly all of these years. He enjoyed watching the NY Yankees and Nascar on TV and is already missed by his four legged grandbabies, Grace and Cooper. Dana leaves behind his two daughters, Maureen Boeth and husband David, Newton Twp., Roxanne Loney and husband Gordon, Scranton, a grandson, David Boeth, a granddaughter, Olivia Boeth, four sisters, Bernice DeMelfi, Lattimer Mines, Sharon Urash and husband Steve, Saylorsburg, Gail Degavage, Scranton, Patricia Pasco and husband John, Scranton, two brothers, Arthur Preble and wife Angie, Topton, Thomas Preble and wife Pat, Taylor, nieces and nephews. Dana’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Dr. Lisa Thomas and staff at Hematology and Oncology for the caring and compassionate care given to their Dad and Grandfather. Thank You also to Barbara Cadden for being a true and kind friend to our Dad. Funeral services will begin on Monday at 8:45 am from the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton with a Mass of Christian Burial Celebrated at 9:30 am in Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, William Street, North Scranton. Interment with military honors will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 4 to 7 pm.
