Ann Marie Sabo, “Aunt Sis”, 83 of Scranton, died Thursday at Elan Skilled Nursing. She was the wife of the late Joseph Sabo who died in 2020. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Francis McPhillips and Marguerite McAuliffe McPhillips. Ann Marie attended West Scranton High School and Antoine’s Beauty School. She worked with her sister, “Toots” at “The Beauty Shop” in West Scranton. Prior to retirement she also worked at Insalaco’s in Green Ridge. Surviving are two brothers, Joseph McPhillips, Scranton; and James McPhillips and husband, Michael Mednick, West Palm Beach, Florida, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Maureen McPhillips McLaughlin and Marguerite “Toots” Fusco. Ann Marie was known for her sense of humor and her amazing cooking, especially her Thanksgiving Stuffing and Christmas Cookies. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Richard Fox, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Parish, on Wednesday, at 11 am, in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 1605 Oram Street, Scranton, 18504. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Viewing for family and friends will be on Tuesday, 4 to 7 pm, at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ann Marie’s name, may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
