Arline Harriet Cook

Arline Harriet Cook, 84, of West Scranton, passed away peacefully on the bright and sunny morning of Tuesday, March 11, at home, surrounded by her family.

Arline was born to Arthur and Hyacinth Rinker Frounfelker on October 17, 1940. A 1958 graduate of West Scranton High School, Arline made friendships and a love match that would last a lifetime.

On May 11, 1963 Arline walked down the aisle at Jackson Street Baptist Church to marry her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Harry Karl Cook. Together, Harry and Arline raised three wonderful children: Pamela, Scott and Tod. The bride and groom spent 61 years together on this Earth.

Arline and Harry were active members of their church and the Scranton community. Arline was a Girl Scout leader, a Jackson Street Baptist quilter, and a volunteer at the Keystone Rescue Mission. She was a student of Hyde Park Bible Institute and was employed as a secretary at the Providence United Presbyterian Church.

Most summer weekends Arline and Harry could be found at their camper at the Camp at East Lake in New Milford, Pa. All throughout her life, Arline enjoyed crafting and homemaking. She was also a breast cancer survivor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Hyacinth Frounfelker, and best friend Carole Rae Asman. She is survived by loving husband, Harry Cook, one daughter; Pam Gavin (Dennis), Scranton, two sons; Scott Cook (Lisa) Olyphant, Tod Cook (Suellen), Lehighton, one brother; Arthur Frounfelker (Mary), Moosic, and six grandchildren; Joshua Cook (Vienna), Meaghan Gavin, Susan Cook, Matthew Cook (Kalia), Daniel Gavin and Jordan Cook.

Funeral service will be Friday at 10am in the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Elliott Cooke of Jackson Street Baptist Church. Internment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Elmhurst. Viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday from 4-7pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.

Viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday from 4-7pm and Friday from 9-10am in the funeral home.

Funeral service will be Friday at 10am in the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Elliot Cooke of Jackson Street Baptist Church. Internment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Elmhurst.
