Margaret “Margie” Champine

Margaret “Margie” Champine, passed on Friday, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart In-patient Unit, Dunmore. She was the widow of Gene Champine who passed in 2005. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of the late George and Anna Swetz Maruhnich. Margie was a member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Penn Avenue, Scranton, was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School and retired as a billing officer for UPS.

She is survived by three siblings; Helen Fabiani, Falls Twp., Pauline Maruhnich, Exeter, Frank Maruhnich, Hamden, CT. Nieces and nephews; Elaine Holgate, Ulster, PA, James (Eileen) Bartlett, TX, Sherry (Larry) Daspit, TX, Wayne (Theresa) Bartlett, TX, Georgette (Pete) Lavelle, Avoca, Laura (Steve) Kovacs, Pocono Pines, Donna (Gary) Weitz, Pocono Pines, Terri Maruhnich, Dupont, Barbara (Joe) Sick, Tunkhannock, Dorene Rukse, NC, Diane Albright, Allentown, Amy Blackwood, AZ, Jonathan Maruhnich, CT, Shirley Fabiani, Falls Twp., and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Margie was predeceased by her husband Gene, parents, George and Anna, siblings; Julia Drosinski, Anna Bartlett, Barbara Maruhnich, Mary Maruhnich, George Maruhnich, John Maruhnich, Joseph Maruhnich, Irene Maruhnich, Michael Maruhnich and nephew, Joseph Fabiani and nieces, Heidi Maruhnich and Christine Martin.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 2 pm, officiated by Msgr. Neil J. Van Loon, in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Oram Street West Scranton. Viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday, 12 to 2 pm in the funeral home.
