Joseph F. Michalik, 86, of South Scranton, died Friday afternoon at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. His wife of 60 years is Cecelia “Ceil” Rodrigues Michalik. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Pauline Picinski Michalik. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, he attended Temple University. He was a member of St. Paul of The Cross Parish, the Mended Hearts Club, a Navy veteran and retired as an electrician for Owens-Illinois. Joseph was a loving husband, father and grampa whose passions were jazz music, reading, and running Lake Scranton. He is also survived by 1 daughter, Denise Michalik Gaus Lennox Twp., and 1 grandson, Taylor Gaus. His funeral will be on Tuesday, beginning at 9:15 am in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Paul of the Cross Parish at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, South Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Scott P. Sterowski, Pastor. Viewing for family and friends on Monday, 4 to 7 pm Interment with Military Honors will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
