Julian Henry Poniatowski, 74, of the Keyser Valley section of West Scranton, died Wednesday at Moses-Taylor Hospital ER after being stricken ill at home. His wife of 52 years is Karen M. Williams Poniatowski. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Julian C. and Martha Wolski Poniatowski. Hank was a 1958 graduate of West Scranton High School, a lifelong member of SS Peter & Paul R. C. Church, and had worked for Jaunty Fabrics and retired as a firefighter after 27 years with the Scranton Fire Department. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Scranton Coin Club. He is also survived by one son, J. Henry Poniatowski and wife Stacie, Scranton, two daughters, Cheryl Burnside and husband William, Clarks Summit, Karen Ann Sallavanti and husband Anthony, Clarks Summit, three grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Burnside, Anthony Julian Sallavanti, Julian Henry Poniatowski IV, one brother, Raymond Poniatowski and wife Donna, Landenburg, PA, eight nieces & nephews. Julian was a loving husband, father, papa and good friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his three favorite grand kids and loved hunting, fishing, cooking, his vegetable garden, and especially his home grown garlic. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. The funeral will be on Monday, beginning at 9:15 from the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am, in SS Peter & Paul R.C. Church, West Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Sam J. Ferretti, Pastor. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Taylor. Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 4 to 8 pm.
