Anna Portanova, 92, of West Scranton, died Wednesday night at the Mountain View Care Center. Her husband of 38 years, Daniel J. Portanova, died in 1977. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Emilio and Marie Catrone Minicozzi. Educated in West Scranton High School, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who put her family first. Anna was also a member of The Assembly of God Church, Scranton. She is survived by one son, Daniel J. Jr. and wife Marilyn, Scranton, one daughter, Rosemarie Ciocca, Scranton, three grandchildren, Daniel J. Portanova and wife Colleen, Mt. Cobb, Kevin Portanova and wife Tammi, Arlington, Tennessee, Kathy Brown and husband James, Gilbert, AZ, four great grandchildren, Jennifer, Kasey, DJ and Chase. One sister, Katherine Antonio, Chandler, AZ, one daughter inlaw, Theda Portanova, Chandler, AZ, several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one son Joseph Portanova, siblings, Rocco and Michael Minicozzi, Mary Lisi, Florence Palesky, Helen James and son inlaw, David Ciocca. Her funeral will be on Monday, with Services at 10 am in the Green Ridge Assembly of God Church, 825 Green Ridge Street, Scranton. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 4 to 7 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Those attending the funeral service are asked to go directly to the church.
