Anne Wickkiser

Anne T. Wickkiser, 92, of West Scranton, died Saturday at home after an extended illness. Her husband of 34 years, George E. Wickkiser, died May 23, 1979. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late David and Anna Owens Thomas. Anne was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School, a member of Trinity Congregational Church and retired from Mayflower Manufacturing as an inspector. She was also very active with the Girl Scouts at Trinity serving as a Scout Leader, cookie chairman, assistant leader and camp counselor. Anne is survived by 3 daughters, Georgeanne Haikes and husband Eugene, Ruth DeCicco and husband Jerry, Wendy Youshock Wassel, all of Scranton, six grandchildren, Gene Haikes and wife Deana, David Haikes, Megan Haikes, Eric Youshock, Bethany Youshock, Adam Youshock, two great grandsons, Egen and Coda Haikes, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sara Wickkiser, two brothers, Walter and Robert Thomas and one sister, Ruth Jones. Anne’s family would like to thank Pattie Stanton for her nightly care given to their Mom and Traditional Home Hospice for the loving and compassionate care that they gave to Anne. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday at 10 am in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton by the Rev. Jeremy Mullen of Trinity Congregational Church. Viewing for family and friends will be on Monday, 4 to 8 pm, and Tuesday from 9 am until time of Services. Interment will follow in the Washburn Street Cemetery, West Scranton. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to the donor’s preferred charity.
