Annette “A” Scioscia Snyder 92, of South Scranton, slipped into eternity to join her husband John, son Gerald and grandson Joshua. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 31, 1923, she was along with her husband John, a child of the depression. They were both residents of the St. Ann’s section of West Scranton, living just across the street from each other. As the story goes, John was cutting through her yard when Annette grabbed him and told him she was going to marry him. John always said “that he chased her until she caught him”. A graduate of West Scranton High School, Annette was a Licensed Practical Nurse who worked at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and loved the kids she served and she was a member of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish. She loved her family as only an Italian woman could, well known for her cooking, not only Italian, but whatever she could learn from others. She is survived by four children, Jack Snyder, Scranton, Thomas Snyder and wife Judy, Dunmore, Anne Coviello and husband Joseph, Clarks Summit, David Snyder and companion Mary Ellen Piccotti, Old Forge, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John J. Snyder, parents, Gabriel and Marie Barosi Scioscia, sisters, Marie Palma, and Jennie Brunori, brothers, Angelo and Ralph Scioscia, baby sister, Antoinnette, whom she was named for, a grandson, Joshua Snyder, and son, Gerald Snyder. Annette was an avid shopper who could often be found tirelessly scouring the racks at TJ MAXX. The family would like to thank Traditional Home Hospice and VNA Hospice for their caring and support throughout this difficult time, and would also like to thank Eddie Piasecki and Stephen Svetlovics for their support and careful watch over Annette for many years. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 11 am in St. Ann’s Basilica. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday, 4 to 8 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. In lieu of flowers, Memorials are preferred in her name to St. Joseph’s Center, Scranton.
