Carol J. Maros, 82, of Scranton, passed away unexpectedly on May, 23, 2022. She was born on August 7, 1939 to parents Stanley and Veronica Gaidos Shygelski. She graduated in 1958 from West Scranton High School. She worked as a seamstress for many years in the garment industry.
Carol is survived by her son Mark Maros and companion Mary Jo Savidge, and her son Stanley Maros Jr. and companion Cheryl Bachart. 7 Grandchildren, Melissa Caprari and husband Julio, Mark Maros and wife Kristi, Lynn Mursch and husband Matt, Laura Maros and fiancé Brad Tucker, Stanley Maros III, Sarah Maros, and Elizabeth Maros. She enjoyed being a great-grandmother to Matthew, James, Wyatt, Brady, Karli, Casey, Hailey, Greyson and 1 more on the way. Also surviving are sisters Joyce Race and Julianne Samsell and husband Joseph, brother in laws Joseph Sniegowski, Walter Maros, John Maros and wife Marie, and Paul Coolbaugh and sister in laws Joanie Maros and Julie Hill. Many nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Maros Sr, sisters Rita Sniegowski and Marlene Shygelski, brothers John and James Shygelski, sister in laws Dorothy Maros and Theresa Coolbaugh and brother in law Frank Maros.
Carol was a devoted mother and grandmother. She spent her life caring for her husband and sons. They were her pride and joy. She loved to cook for her family and spend quality time with them. She loved to watch her grandchildren in any event/sport they were in. Her smile lit up the room wherever she was. She spent her free time playing bingo and made many friends along the way. She loved her beloved Boston Red Sox and never missed watching a game. Her impact on her loved ones will leave an indelible mark. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 10 am at Divine Mercy Parish in St. Joseph’s Church, 312 Davis Street, Scranton, celebrated by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Pastor. Interment will follow in St. Mary of Czestochowa Cemetery, Greenwood. Viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday, 4 to 7 pm, at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Donations in Carol’s name, can be made to St Jude’s Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
