Eugene M. “Louie” Loureiro, 78, of West Scranton, died on Friday at Allied Hospice Unit. His wife is Annette Agliata Loureiro and the couple would have celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary in November. Born in Scranton, Louie was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Loureiro. Educated in Scranton Technical High School, he was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. Louie was a member of St. Lucy’s Church, had been a coach with the West Scranton Jets, the Sloan Little League and a member of the SS Peter & Paul Bowling League.
He is also survived by two sons, Anthony and wife Amy, Eugene and wife Sherri, all of Scranton, one daughter, Angelique Thomas and husband David, Exton, PA, eight grandchildren, Kain, Griffin, Bailey, Carter, Grady, Alia and Anthony Loureiro, and John David Thomas. One sister, Barbara Robinson, Florida, two brothers, Anthony Loureiro and wife Joyce, Taylor and Jack Loureiro, Scranton, numerous nieces and nephews. He was also pre-deceased by a brother in-law, Ken Robinson. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am, by the Rev. Sam J. Ferretti, Pastor, in St. Lucy’s Church, 949 Scranton St., Scranton, PA 18504 with Military Honors to follow after Mass at the church. Inurnment will be private in Cathedral Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 9 am until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Allied Hospice Center, 511 Morgan Hwy., Scranton, PA 18508 or the American Cancer Society, 712 South Keyser Ave., Taylor, PA 18517.
