Frank J. Pallien, 51, of Scranton, died Thursday after being stricken ill while running on the Lackawanna Heritage Trail. His wife of 31 years is Darlene Hawley Pallien. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Frank and Irene Sabatini Pallien. A 1980 graduate of Scranton Central High School and Penn State Worthington receiving as degree in Electrical Engineering. Frank was employed as a systems engineer at Schott North America for the past 32 years and is a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, North Scranton. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Fr. Joseph G. Barrett Assembly and a member of the North Pocono Council 6050. Frank served as president of Schott’s F. C. U. for many years, was an assistant scout master for Troop 57 at Holy Rosary Church and he and his wife Darlene served on the Parish Pre-Cana team and was also the recipient of the 4 Chaplains award. Along with his wife, they chaired the annual church block party in 2006 and were both annual volunteers for the event. Frank was a loving, caring, and kind husband and father who never missed an event in sports, scouting and plays in which his children participated. Frank will be fondly remembered for his love of life, the many friendships he easily acquired and for always being happy along with his extraordinary sense of humor. He is also survived by his loving children, Frank J. Jr. and Brooke and fiancé 2nd Lt. Jordan Leonard, USMC. His funeral will be on Tuesday at 8:45 am from the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Holy Rosary Church, 316 William Street, Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev Cyril D. Edwards, Pastor. Interment will follow in the Italian-American Cemetery, Minooka. Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, 5 to 8 pm.
