Gerard J. “Jerry” Motsay, 73, of South Scranton, passed on Thursday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His loving wife of 34 years is Sharon Kudrich Motsay. Born in Carbondale, Jerry was the son of the late Raymond and Helene Romanishyn Motsay. Jerry was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale, Lackawanna College and received his BA Degree from Bethel College of Tennessee and was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish, West Scranton, and retired from Pennsylvania American Water.
Jerry loved his time hunting, fishing and golfing. He was an avid New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Steelers, Notre Dame fan and was an assistant Lackawanna College Softball coach.
He was a wonderful dad to his son Mike and an adoring Grandpa to his grandsons, who brought so much joy to his life.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, his son Mike and wife Tanya, Scott Twp., grandsons, Angelo, Oliver and Sawyer, his sister, Barbara Cavanaugh and husband Lawrence, Florida, his brother, Raymond Motsay and fiancee Fran Frommelt, Crystal Lake, nieces and nephews. Jerry was predeceased by his parents and sister, Rose Ann Timmermans. Viewing for family and friends will be on Wednesday, January 29, 5 to 7:30 pm, with services at 7:30 pm by the Rev. Fr. James Paisley in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Interment will be private.
