Helen F. Beppler, 78, of the Petersburg section of Scranton, died Monday night at home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 58 years is Wendell A. Beppler Sr. Born in Scranton, she is the daughter of the late Frank D. and Ruth M. Simcox Ball. A 1954 graduate of Scranton Central High School, she received a certificate of Computer Science from Lackawanna Vo-Tech. Helen had been employed for 23 years in data processing for the Scranton School District. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, was a den Leader/Coach for Pack 12 Cub Scouts, Explorer Scouts Post 79, Junior Order United American Mechanics, DAR, Kings Kloset and Women’s Circle at the former Myrtle Street United Methodist Church, and was a faithful volunteer for her church at Myrtle Street U.M.C. She is also survived by one son, Wendell A. Beppler Jr., Lancaster three daughters, Susan H. Ort and husband David, Dunmore, Cheryl A. Kundla and husband John, Scranton, Lisa A. Swartz and husband R. Scott, Scranton, five grandsons, four granddaughters, one sister, Phyllis Fidati, Scranton, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by one son, Albert A. Beppler. Memorial contributions in Helen’s name can be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William Street, Dunmore, PA 18510 or to St. Francis Commons Veterans Program, 504 Penn Avenue, Scranton, PA, 18503. Funeral services will be on Friday, beginning at 11:45 am from the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton, with services in Covenant Presbyterian Church, 550 Madison Avenue, Scranton at 12;30 pm, officiated by the Rev. Scott Loomer and the Rev. Patricia Lee. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park. Viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
