James F. McNichols, aged 80, of Clarks Summit, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jan Meyer McNichols, who passed in 2004 and son Christopher McNichols, who passed in 2013. Born in Scranton, James was the son of the late James J. and Mary Ann McNichols.
A graduate of West Scranton High School, class of 1962, James dedicated his career to masonry, working with the Brick Layers Union Local 1805. He was a former member of St. Lucy’s Church in West Scranton.
James is survived by his sons, Steven McNichols of Florida, Scott McNichols and his wife Deby of Florida; his daughter, Lynn Ellis and her fiancé Dave Skutack of Old Forge; his brother, Patrick McNichols and his wife Maureen of West Scranton; and his sister, Angela McNichols Glazer and her husband Mickey of West Scranton. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honoring James’ wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services LLC, West Scranton.
