Jeanne “Jeannie” Petcavage, 76, of Scranton, passed away Sunday at Regional Hospital in Scranton. She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald J. Petcavage in 2007. The couple was married for 37 years.
Born in Throop on October 22, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Sleboda)
Husosky. She was a 1961 graduate of Technical High School, Scranton. Jeanne was employed as a bookkeeper for much of her life. She worked for G & G Sewing Machine, Inc. and Harper and Row Publishing, Inc. in Dunmore. She worked most recently for Agostini Bakery in Old Forge.
A devoted Roman Catholic, she was an active member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish in
South Scranton. Her devotion to her faith gave her much strength and joy throughout her life.
Jeanne was a loving wife to Jerry, she carried him in her heart each day she was separated from him upon his passing. A dotting Aunt and caregiver to her extended family, she took on much responsibility to senior family members through the years. She was truly an animal lover, who owned several cats and dogs throughout her life. Most recently her beagle “Molly” brought her so much joy.
An accomplished cook and gardener, she treasured her family and friends and enjoyed nothing more than creating wonderful food for them while entertaining at home. Her love of gardening was evident in the beautiful plants and flowers in her yard. She enjoyed so much time there.
Jeanne was blessed with life-long friendships. She had wonderful people in her life. She looked forward to every one of her “Tech” High School reunions and was often seen on the dance floor and singing along with her friends. She will be missed by many.
She is survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family. Two brothers,
John “Jack” Husosky, Jr. and Joseph Husosky and one sister, Madelyn Agostini proceeded her in death.
Her family would like to thank the many caregivers who have shown kindness and compassion to her during the last few years. Her life was certainly enriched in your care.
Viewing for family and friends will be on Monday 9 to 10 a.m. September 14th at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services 262 Railroad Ave, West Scranton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Scott P. Sterowski, Pastor, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul of the Cross Parish, Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church, South Scranton.
