John Kostyk, 98, of Scranton, died on Thursday morning at home. He was the husband of 67 years to Ruth E. Kostyk, who died on October 2, 2012. Born in Scranton, John was a son of the late Frank and Mary Kostyk. A graduate of Scranton Central High School and Vaughan College of Aeronautics, a United States Army Air Corps veteran of WW II serving in the European Theatre and a former member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. John along with his wife Ruth were the owners and operators of the former Kostyk’s Restaurant, on Court Street in North Scranton. He is survived by 2 daughters, Carol Kuratnick and husband Jay, Scranton, Debra McGoff and husband Joseph, Clarks Summit, one son, John Kostyk and wife Wendy, Maryland, seven grandchildren; Christopher Kuratnick and fiancée Katheryn Jones, Kimberly Kelly and husband Greg, Todd Gray and wife Marge, Matthew Gray and wife Tracy, Karen Hooper and husband Daniel, Daniel Kostyk and Laura Kostyk, eight great grandchildren. He was also predeceased by four siblings. The family would like to thank John’s care givers, Jessica Grosso and Christine Miholk for the care and compassion that they gave to our Dad on a daily basis. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 14, at 9:30 am officiated by the Rev. Fr. Myron Myronyuk, Pastor of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow. Military Honors will be accorded. Arrangements entrusted to the Edward J.
