John “Jack” Mackie, 75 of West Scranton, passed on Thursday, at Geisinger CMC. He was the husband of Jean Davis Mackie. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Alice Tigue Stevens. Jack was a 1966 graduate of Scranton Technical High School and was drafted into the United States Army in August of 1966 where he served with the 7th Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division in Korea as a SP5. He was employed in the local warehousing industry as a fork lift operator, upon retirement he was employed by Moletsky’s Service Station. Jack enjoyed his cup of tea while doing his daily jumble and crypto puzzles, and enjoyed his “Genny” while watching nightly TV, so, everyone have a “Genny” for Jack.
He is survived by his wife Jean, their children; Melissa Labracio and husband Rick, Honesdale, Nicole Ralicke and husband Tom, South Abington Twp., Jason Mackie and wife Monica, Scranton, six grandchildren; Keenan Mackie, Cade Labracio, Aubrey Mackie, Laney Mackie, Jackson Ralicke, Madelyn Ralicke, his sister; Bonnie Welsch and husband Danny, brothers; Mal Mackie, Jimmy Mackie and wife Lynn, all of Scranton. Jack was predeceased by his parents, brothers; Drew Mackie and toddler, Robert Mackie. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Patrick’s Church, 1403 Jackson Street, Scranton, by the Rev. Richard Fox, Pastor. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, 5 to 8 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. In lieu of flowers donations in Jack’s name can be made to the Healthwell Foundation, P.O. Box 489 Buckeystown, PA 21717. Inurnment will be private.
