John Roditski

John Roditiski, 96, of Old Forge, died Sunday at Regional Hospital of Scranton surrounded by his family. His wife of 70 years is Margaret Havrilko Roditski.
Born in West Scranton, he was the youngest of four children of the late William and Catherine Roditski. He attended Scranton Technical High School. He joined the United States Army Air Corps and served for two years. He worked as a draftsman at Superior Fireproof Door and Sash Company.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Susan Jarzyna, Mary Sokolowsky; and his brother, Michael. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his son, John; and daughter, Kathryn Roditski Dilozir; son-in-law, Taras Dilozir; and granddaughter, Laryssa; and grandson, John; as well as many nieces and nephews. John was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather.
He was a lifetime member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church. He loved his church and its members. He was a board member for 15 years, was in the church choir, St. Michael’s Brotherhood and established the Boy Scout Troop 96 as the leader. In 2019, he was awarded the St. Andrew Medal of Honor for his devotion to his church by the Metropolitan Antony and Bishop Daniel. He enjoyed league bowling with his wife and neighbors and played golf with his daughter, granddaughter and other friends.  John and his wife were members of the Taylor Senior Center and enjoyed all the activities with his many friends.
Viewing for family and friends will be at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Ave., West Scranton on Thursday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. with Parastas services beginning at 8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, by the Rev. Fr. Philip Harendza, pastor, 540 N. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Viewing for family and friends will be  Thursday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. with Parastas services beginning at 8:30 p.m in the funeral home.

A funeral service will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, by the Rev. Fr. Philip Harendza, pastor, 540 N. Main Ave., Scranton.

Interment with military honors will follow at St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
