John Sokolowsky

John Sokolowsky, 87, of Dickson City, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour early Monday morning at the Lackawanna Health & Rehab Center, Olyphant. His wife of 34 years is Beverly Lewis Sokolowsky. Educated in Scranton Schools, he was a Navy veteran of WW II having served aboard the USS Rocky Mount in the Pacific Theatre. John worked as a cabinet maker for Swift & Barnes and retired from Jonah Frameworks of Meshoppen and is a member of Faith Baptist Church, Peckville. He is also survived by one daughter Carol Skamanich (Michael) N. Carolina, one son, John Sokolowsky (Lori), Moosic, two granddaughters, one great granddaughter, five step-sons, Gerald, Francis and Jeffrey Lepre, all of Scranton, John (Julie) Lepre, Kingsley, Michael Lepre, Hop Bottom, 12 step grandchildren, three great step grandchildren, five sisters, Helen Mokis, Pauline Sokolowsky, Marion McMyn, Gloria Polishyn (Paul), all of Scranton, Dolores Everett (Edward) of Kingsley. John was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Roditski Sokolowsky in 1976 and one brother Joseph (Butch) Sokolowsky. His funeral will be on Thursday with services at 10 am in Faith Baptist Church, 545 Keystone Avenue, Peckville, officiated by Pastor Robert Vigil. Viewing for family and friends will be on Wednesday, 4 to 6 pm, in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Interment will be private in the West Lennox Cemetery, Susquehanna County. Those attending church services are asked to go directly to the church.
