Joseph Baldacci

Joseph Richard Baldacci, 83, of Dunmore, passed on Wednesday at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center, Scranton. He was predeceased by his wife Carol Lacina Baldacci, who passed in 2014. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Annette Renaldi Baldacci. Joseph was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School a United States Army Veteran, and worked in management for the Giant Markets, Sunshine Market and retired from Gerrity’s Markets. Joseph was a former member of the South Side Bachelors Club and several local bowling leagues in Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Evanko and husband David, Dunmore, one son, Richard J. Baldacci and wife Tanya, Springbrook Twp., five grandchildren, Maxton Baldacci, Kelly Evanko and companion Steve Evans, Stefanie Smith and husband Ryan, Brittney Lee and husband Donald and Emily Baldacci and companion Robert Martin, five great grandchildren, one sister, Stella Steinetz and husband Frank, Taylor, his former wife, Janice Reichard, Swoyersville, nieces, nephews and cousins. Panachyda Services will be offered at 9 am Saturday in the funeral home. A funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Linden Street, Scranton at 10 am by the Rev. Fr. Leonard A. Martin, S.J., Pastor. Interment will be in the Italian-American Cemetery with Military Honors. Those attending the viewing or liturgy are kindly requested to wear masks. Viewing for family and friends will be on Friday, 5 to 7 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
