Joseph F. Coleman, 93, of West Scranton, passed on Thursday at home, surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 73 years is Florence J. Coleman. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Morris and Grace Coleman. Educated in Scranton school Joseph was a WW II United States Navy Veteran and a member of St. Ann’s Basilica Parish. Joseph had been employed as a coal miner and worked as a driver for the Canada Dry Beverage Company until his retirement. He took great pride and pleasure in home improvement projects. Joe enjoyed painting, gardening, outdoor walks and exercise. He was a most loving, caring and compassionate husband, father, grandfather who loved taking care of dogs and animals. Joe was all about spending time with his children, grandchildren and most of all with his loving wife Florence “Susie”. Along with his wife Florence, he is survived by his son, Joseph M. Coleman and companion Pamela Huddy, Scranton, and daughter, Maryann DeStefano and husband Neil, Mechanicsburg. Five grandchildren, Michael Coleman and wife Nicole, Sarah Coleman MD and companion Ted Ives, Patrick, Christopher and Maria DeStefano, two great grandchildren, Gavin and Cecelia Coleman, nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his daughter in-law, Alice Coleman, his brother, William Coleman and sister, Isabellle Bradbury. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 1:15 pm in St. Ann’s Basilica. Burial will be private in Cathedral Cemetery with Military Honors. There is no viewing at the funeral home.
