Joseph Maruhnich, 79, of Bayonne, NJ, died Tuesday at Bayonne Medical Center. Born in Scranton on July 11, 1934, he was the son of the late George and Anna Swetz Maruhnich. Educated in Scranton and Dunmore schools, he was a 1953 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He served in the Army for two years and with the National Guard for six years. He worked and retired from Western Electric, Kearny, NJ after 30 years. He is survived by two brothers, Michael, Scranton, Frank, Hamden, CT, five sisters, Ann Bartlett, Tomball, TX, Mary and Pauline Maruhnich, both of East Stroudsburg, Helen Fabiani, Falls Twp. and Margie Champine, Scranton, nieces, nephews, cousins, 1 aunt. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, George and John Maruhnich, 3 sisters, Irene and Barbara Maruhnich and Julia Drosinski. Funeral Services will be on Monday, at 9:30 am, in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton, by the Rev Nicholas Ferencz. Interment will follow in St. George’s Cemetery, Ransom Twp. Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 3 to 6 pm with Panachyda Services at 3 pm.
