Larry Frable

Larry B. Frable, 67, of the Austin Heights section of Old Forge, passed away Friday morning after being stricken ill at home. His wife of 46 years is Mary Ann Cipriano Frable. Born in Old Forge, he is the son of Stanley W. Frable, Old Forge and the late Dorothy Lininger Frable. A 1969 graduate of Old Forge High School, he was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church. Larry, worked as a HazMat CDL truck driver and retired from the Borough of Old Forge where he was also a driver. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and cook. Larry was the most alive person you would ever meet, and loved nothing more than to fill his home with family and friends. He loved to “cook for the masses”, hosting holidays or just a Sunday sauce. He also had a love of music. Larry spent 26 years playing the drums for A Touch of Satin, the house band for Convention Hall, Pittston. Larry’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life. The legacy of Larry’s warm heart, kind spirit, contagious smile and zest for life, will live on through them. Also surviving are one son, Larry Frable and wife Brooke, Old Forge, two daughters, Lynn Derk and husband Brian, Elysburg, Lori Nalaschi and husband Dean, Old Forge, six grandchildren Jenna, Dean and Nicolas Nalaschi, Justin, Tyler and Chase Derk, one grandson, Lorenzo Frable, expected in May, one brother, James Frable and wife Jean, Old Forge, one brother in-law, Sam DeVita, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Jenny Mae DeVita and one niece, Ermine DeVita. The Funeral will begin Thursday at 9:15 from the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 am in St. Mary’s Church, at Prince of Peace Parish, 123 West Grace Street, Old Forge, PA, to be Celebrated by Larry’s uncle, the Rev. Joseph Cipriano, Pastor Emeritus and Con-Celebrant, the Rev. August Riccardi, Pastor.  Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Old Forge. Viewing for family and friends will be on Wednesday, 4 to 8 pm.
