Lottie Karwaski, 97, a lifelong resident of South Scranton and a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2014, surrounded by family members, in the home of Georgie Duddek, her loving caregiver. Daughter of the late Sophie and Paul Gawelko, she was predeceased by her husband Joseph Karwaski, as well as her brothers, Stanley and John Gawelko, and sisters, Mildred Sclawy, Helen Jordan and Sophie Constantini. Devoted mother of Joseph Karwaski of Cascade, MT, Paul Karwaski and wife Eileen, of Media, PA, Dolores MacKinnon of Clarks Green, and Stephen Karwaski and wife Lorraine of Helena, MT. Beloved grandmother of Michael Karwaski, Thomas Karwaski and wife Kathy, Gale Bell and husband John, and Gregory Karwaski. Great-grandmother to Zachary and Anthony Karwaski and Ava Bell. Lottie lived a long life that was enriched by her family members and friends. She was a wonderful cook who also excelled in baking breads and pies. She worked for several Scranton businesses such as Wilson Beef Company and Saquoit Silk Mill. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday, June 26, in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Avenue, Scranton, 9 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am to be celebrated by the Rev. Scott P. Sterowski, Pastor. Interment will be private. Arrangements directed by the Edward J Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, West Scranton.
