Louise A. “Mickie” Brown, passed on Tuesday after an extended illness. She was the widow of the late Joseph Patrick Brown who passed in 1976. Born in Scranton on July 4, 1933 to the late Joseph DeCresenza and Helen Havrilchak DeCresenza. A 1951 graduate of West Scranton High School and Lackawanna Jr. College. Mickie worked throughout her life to include the Forum Plaza and Scranton City Hall. Mickie volunteered as a senior companion at Telespond Senior Services in Scranton for 26 years and well into her late eighties. She absolutely loved Telespond, their clients, doing arts and crafts and exercise programs with them. Working at Telespond brought her much joy and happiness. She was an avid lover of the arts her entire life. Mickey started roller skating at Town Hall, Scranton at an early age. After many lessons and practice, she joined the Crystal Rollers Skating Club where she became a free stylist figure skater and won numerous medals and awards in competition. In her own words it was “her heart, soul and addiction”. After ten years of skating, Mickie met Joseph Brown, whom she later married and started their family. After raising her children of which she was truly devoted, she found another passion, Country Line and Ball Room Dancing and could be seen regularly on WVIA TV on Saturday nights for many years. You could always find her at La Festa Italiana in the front row dancing, enjoying her friends and the wonderful entertainment. Mickie was dedicated to everything she was involved in and “loved it all” as she danced well into her eighties, until her illness. She had an exceptionally beautiful singing voice and was always asked to perform at any function she attended. She was also a self-taught guitarist. Her life was a testament to her youthful nature, work ethic, her desire to help others and will leave a lasting impression on all of the lives she touched. She is survived by three children; Maria Gething, Old Forge, Nancy Welby and companion Joseph Zarick, Taylor, Robert Brown and wife Nancy, Factoryville, one sister; Joan Menza, Bedminster, NJ, two brothers; Edwin Young and wife Joan, Timothy Young, Bronx, NY,  six grandchildren; Robert Gething Jr and wife Kelly, Casey Welby and companion Ryan O’Day, Paul J.
