Marilyn J. Portanova

Marilyn J. Portanova, 75, of Scranton, passed away on March 17, 2025. Born in Scranton to the late John  and Johanna Brocavitch Petranchak. Her husband and best friend of  54 years is Daniel Portanova Jr. Marilyn was a 1967 graduate of West Scranton Senior High School and went on to start her career as a Tape Finisher at Specialty Records and retired from Cinram. Marilyn was an avid baseball fan and held season tickets for the Scranton Wilkes Barre RailRiders. She was also a huge fan of the New York Mets as well as the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed playing card games and spending time with family. Marilyn is survived by 2 sons; Dan Portanova (Colleen) Jefferson Twp., Kevin Portanova (Tammi) Tennessee, 2 sisters Geraldine Walsh and JoAnn Musheno, 4 grandchildren; Kasey, D.J., Chase, and Tenley, nieces and nephews.

A Panachyda service will be on Monday at 9:30 am in the funeral home, officiated by Fr. Roman Vasylynka, St. Johns Byzantine Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery, Elmhurst. Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 3 to 6 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Viewing for family and friends will be on Sunday, 3 to 6 pm in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 262 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton.
