Martha V. Melisky, 89, of the East Mountain section of Scranton, passed on Sunday at Moses-Taylor Hospital where she was a patient. Her husband of 61 years, Walter J. Melisky, died in 2012. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Catherine Zielinski Kochanski. Educated in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic School, she worked in the local garment industry. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Wassell, Scranton, one son, Walter J. Melisky Jr and wife Mary, Scranton, three grandchildren, Patricia Jean Jenkins and husband Chadd, Gina Wassell, Michael Melisky, one great granddaughter, Ramona Jenkins, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her son in-law, Eugene Wassell, one brother, Louis Kochanski, three sisters, Mary Lesavage, Bernice Owens and Joan Sacco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 am in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 1217 Prospect Avenue, South Scranton, by the Rev. Fr. Scott P. Sterowski, Pastor. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. There are no calling hours at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to the direction and care of the Edward J.
